As we begin 2025, we look back at the sadness of the past year of war mixed with the joy of a baby boom in Israel and Be’ad Chaim. In 2024, over five hundred babies were born to our Be’ad Chaim family! We are currently encouraging over one hundred pregnant women. Since beginning our sponsorship project “Operation Moses” in 2006, more than five thousand babies have graduated the program. Because every child is created uniquely by the hand of God, we serve any woman in crisis who turns to us. In Be’ad Chaim, race, nationality, or religion are not an issue. God’s Word says: “It was you who formed my internal organs, you who fashioned me in the mother’s womb … Your eyes looked upon my embryo and everything was recorded in your book.” (Psalm 139)
Our counselor, Rose, who joined our team this year, shared: “Working here has connected me with sectors of society with whom I’d not been involved, such as the ultra-orthodox, for whom I now have much better understanding. I can say the same thing about the Arab population and the modern religious community. I feel more connected with our Nation as a result.”
In this newsletter, we share the stories of Be’ad Chaim’s service to a wide gamut of people. Whoever they are - we are here to extend God’s hand of love.
What a joy when one of our mothers helps other women choose life for their babies!
Kyra had a sweet birthday party for her now one year old son Yarin. She said when she looks at her beautiful son she can’t even imagine that just over a year ago she was considering aborting him. Yarin’s father isn’t in the picture at all because he is married to someone else, but the baby has brought restoration of the relationship with her parents. At first, they were very opposed to the idea of her having a child out of wedlock... However, Yarin has melted their hearts and they are now so proud of him that the relationship with them has been healed. She says this is a double blessing.
She has since sat with two of her friends who were in a similar situation. She cried with them but said, “There’s no way that you can have an abortion. It will be the worst mistake you ever made in your life!” One of them then came to us for support.
When we spoke with Kyra, she couldn’t stop thanking us and wants us to be sure to tell you how much all of the support from Be’ad Chaim means to her.
We received this lovely thank you note from students whom we helped according to the command in Galatians 6:9, 10: “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest – if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have the opportunity, let’s practice doing good to everyone, especially to the family of faith.”
My family and I are so grateful for the help we have received from Oxana and Avigal (our counselors in Be’er Sheva). In 2022, my husband and I moved to Israel for his studies when I was thirty-two weeks pregnant with our first child, Stella, who is now two years old. It seemed daunting moving to a new country with neither our families nor our community. Shortly after joining a church here, a woman connected me with Oxana. She was so kind and quick to help me as I learned to be a mother in a land I was not familiar with at all.
We did not know what was to come in October 2023, when Israel was attacked and the war with Hamas started. Nothing can prepare you to live in a war while being a mother. It is the safety of your child that is the most important to you, and although the war was difficult mentally and emotionally at times, we have been so thankful for God’s protection and provision.
We continue to seek God’s wisdom on how to navigate being parents during the war, especially as our two-year-old continues to have nightmares from hearing the sirens and running to the shelter. We are so thankful our children are physically safe, and we do not take that for granted, as we know that is not everyone’s reality here.
In February 2024, we found out I was pregnant again, which was a blessing after previously having a miscarriage. This was a beautiful and redemptive moment for us in the midst of the war. I gave birth to our beloved son, Jon Eleazar, at 6:45pm on October 4th. He was born weighing 3.300 kg. I had a wonderful and redemptive water birth that I was so thankful for.
My husband and I are both on student visas, so neither of us are allowed to work here in Israel. The financial help from Be’ad Chaim has helped us buy diapers and food for our children, which has been such a blessing since we are on a student budget. They are a reminder to us that God will always provide for us even when we don’t know how and even in a foreign country. We are thankful for them and the donors who give so generously to this organization. Rebecca
Miriam, one of our Jerusalem counselors, very lovingly joined single mother, Naomi, during the recent caesarian section birth of her son Ronny. Miriam said of her experience: I was with her during the birth which was very exciting and emotional for me. Naomi said that when I prayed for her during the surgery, she felt God’s love wrapped around her. Because it was challenging for Naomi, who is alone, to care for Ronny after the birth, tourists to Israel offered to volunteer their time to visit her and help her out.
Naomi felt the blanket of God’s love through Miriam’s prayers and kindness and through the kindness of the volunteers. It is our prayer that every one of our mothers experience His love just as Naomi did.
Several months ago, we wrote you about pregnant Sharon whose husband Sahar was critically wounded in action. We rejoice to announce to you the birth of their beautiful new daughter Lee. To recap, Sahar was struck by a missile while guarding the Lebanese border. He was unconscious for several months and went through many surgeries, including replacing a part of his skull with a metal plate, a nerve transplant and having a part of his intestines removed. All this time, Sharon sat by his bed, anxious to know what would happen and hoping that the new baby girl they were expecting would be able to meet her father.
Eventually Sahar’s situation improved, and they were able to look forward to the future again but realized they might need some help for the baby. Through a volunteer in the hospital, they connected with Be’ad Chaim, and after speaking to a counselor, we were happy to make them part of Operation Moses to provide them with what they needed for their precious baby girl.
In October, Sharon gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and they named her Lee. Sahar was able to attend the delivery, which was a blessing and a wonderful answer to prayer. The delivery went very well, and mother and baby went home after two days in the hospital. Now they are a family of four and working their way around caring for the children and getting Sahar to his physical therapy.
Sahar is getting better by the week, but it is hard to say if he will be able to get back to work at all, since the damage is not only physical but also mental and emotional, and he has a hard time concentrating. They thank God that he survived and can see his children grow up.
Sharon and Sahar are so very grateful for their sponsor and the help they receive. After a very stressful time, now they can finally enjoy being a family, without the stress of providing for their precious daughter.
In our September newsletter, we shared with you a short report by our counselor Rose regarding Michal who had just given birth to her baby boy Osher. It is my joy to give you an update, especially because Rose had asked for prayer that Michal would return to the faith. I know that many of you respond faithfully when we ask for prayer! Thank you! Your prayers have been answered for Michal and her partner Ilan. As you may recall, Michal was raised in a Messianic family as a child, but later fell into drugs and spent her teen years in a boarding school. I recently met with the social worker of that boarding school, a sister in the Lord, who told me that Michal’s situation had been very difficult but she had prayed often for her and shared God’s faithful love with her. The Lord never abandoned Michal. Through all of her wanderings, He has placed His children to encourage and support her. When Michal discovered her pregnancy last year, at age nineteen, she was sure that abortion was the only solution to her very difficult situation. Her boyfriend’s parents pushed hard for the abortion, but other believers called Be’ad Chaim for our support. Michal continued to postpone the abortion and finally decided to choose life. Her loving boyfriend supported whatever she would decide. Very gracious believers provided her a place to live during the pregnancy and gave her love and emotional support. As the months went on, Michal seemed to remain ambivalent about the birth and the baby. Yet, when Osher was born, she naturally became a terrific mother. She is not only competent but also loving and nurturing. Her partner’s parents fell in love with their first grandson and have welcomed the couple and baby into their home, actively helping and supporting. Michal has begun attending a local congregation with her partner Ilan and baby Osher. The pastor of that congregation cares about them and is doing his utmost to help them grow in faith. Ilan has asked Michal to marry him. Recently, Michal phoned a friend who took drugs with her and told her to join them in the congregation and to turn her life around. We are filled with joy as we see lives redeemed. A baby has been born and with him – new life for his entire family.
Our brother in the Lord, Labeeb, living under the Palestinian Authority in Bethlehem, has been very dear to us for many years. Labeeb prepares our bottles of anointing oil from the Gardens of Life. We provide him with large jerry cans of fresh, natural oil prepared from the harvesting of the olive orchards and pressed in the Latrun Monastery. The Gardens of Life are a memorial forest where trees are planted in memory and honor of children who were miscarried, aborted or stillborn. Over the years, Labeeb patiently waited on the Lord’s provision for a wife who has a heart for the Lord and Israel like his. By God’s grace, he met his wife, Maryam, in Egypt. They married and, to their great joy, quickly became pregnant with twins.
In August, the twin boys, David and Jonathan, celebrated their first birthdays. The boys are thriving – talking a bit, walking and happy little guys!
Labeeb and Maryam, who are Arab Christians, find their lives challenging because most of their neighbors are Muslim. Whilst Maryam and her husband love Israel and strongly believe that Israel belongs to the Jews, their neighbors exhibit a hate towards Israel and the Jews. However, they can’t just move into the Israeli part of the country, because Labeeb has Jordanian (Palestinian) citizenship and Maryam has Egyptian citizenship. They prayed about what was best to do for their future, and the future of their precious boys, and decided to apply for visas to move to the United States. There they can live and raise their boys the way they want, in the ways of the Lord, without any threat to their lives. The process is pending, and they are hoping to be able to move sometime in the summer of 2025.
We thank God that just as Labeeb prepares precious oil for Be’ad Chaim, God has and will continue to give him the oil of joy. We appreciate your prayers for this precious family.
All are welcome to visit the Gardens of Life and plant a tree or ask us to plant in your proxy. Anointing oil is available for sale through our online shop or by writing to us at info@beadchaim.org.il.
