Tali and Maia

Sep 25, 2019 • By Be'ad Chaim

Tali celebrates her first birthday at the end of September, but since her family is Orthodox, they go by the Jewish calendar, which is a combination of the lunar and solar calendars. Since she was born on the holiday of Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles), this year her birthday will be celebrated in mid-October. Tali is tall (long) and thin and weighs only about 8 kg, even though Maia  puts her in size 5 diapers. Tali is crawling now and loves to play with pots, pans and spoons that her mom gives her from the kitchen. They do not have money to buy toys or send her to daycare. Tali is not standing alone or walking yet. Maia  is not too concerned, and the child development center where Tali gets her check-ups has not said anything about a delay. Tali has a good appetite. Maia  says there are no foods put before her that she doesn't eat. She still gets up in the middle of the night, however, preventing Maia  from getting proper rest.

Maia  recently had a falling out with her family and so they decided to move to an Orthodox community as far away from the town they had been in, as possible. (Rent is also less expensive). This has necessitated a major expense, to say nothing of the need to establish contact with Social Services in her new town and have her file transferred so that she can benefit from the services she is entitled to. Her husband is still a full-time student and he doesn't seem to concerned with how his family is supported. Maia  is at home with Tali and awaiting the birth of twins later this month. Clearly, the help they received this past year was absolutely essential for Tali and she owes her life to your generosity. Please pray for this family and their priorities as they are now on their own.
