Shiri and Her Newborn

Mar 06, 2019 • By Sandy Shoshani

Shiri is a lovely young woman who found out she was pregnant while she was doing her army service. She seriously considered having an abortion as the pregnancy was unplanned.  Thankfully Shiri heard about Be’ad Chaim through the welfare system.  When she made contact with us she realized that abortion was not the only option,  she had a choice. One of our wonderful counselors was able to give her the love and support she needed, and Shiri realized that there were people who would care and support her during her pregnancy… Shiri left the army while she was still pregnant and she and her boyfriend decided to marry.   They decided they wanted to raise their child together as a family.  Praise the Lord for that!

It was thanks to your generous sponsorship that Shiri was able to become part of The Operation Moses Project, which supplied her with a crib and sheets, baby bath, stroller and monthly vouchers for a whole year to buy the other essentials she would need for the new baby. She is so very grateful for this help which really has made such a huge difference to their situation.

On Wednesday 16th January 2019 Shiri gave birth to a handsome little boy weighing 3.300 Kg. They called him Dor.  As often with the first birth, it was very long and difficult. Praise God Shiri quickly recovered from the birth, and she is happy now to be able to do everything in the house.

At first, Shiri didn’t want to nurse, she chose to bottle feed baby Dor.  Today she is regretting this decision and is trying her best to increase her milk supply to be able to feed her little boy. Meanwhile, he is feeding on formula and growing well. Please pray she will be able to nurse her baby.

Both Shiri and her husband come from very large families, Shiri has 9 siblings. For this reason, their families are not able to give them any support.  They are renting a small apartment, and Shiri’s husband sometimes works with his uncle in constructions but unfortunately, he doesn’t have a permanent job. They still have many financial difficulties. Please pray for a permanent and a good paying job for him.

Thank you very much for your kind and generous support and for your continued prayers for Shiri and her family.
